The PFS of SAV presents the Southern Premiere of THE WINDING STREAM: THE CARTERS, THE CASHES AND THE COURSE OF COUNTRY MUSIC
The Psychotronic Film Society of Savannah (repeatedly named Best Local Film Series by the readers of Connect Savannah), along with generous co-sponsors the TRINITY SANCTUARY MUSIC SERIES, CONNECT SAVANNAH and TOM KOHLER, is hosting a One-Day-Only Special Engagement of this brand-new Americana music documentary THE WINDING STREAM at Savannah's "Best Indie Film Venue," MUSE ARTS WAREHOUSE.
Over a decade in the making, this labor of love is the definitive portrait of the amazing history, legacy and ongoing influence of the famed Carter Family of the Appalachian Mountains, who essentially invented what came to be known as "country music" in the 1920s.
Long before C&W icon Johnny Cash joined their clan by marrying June Carter, the family's live shows and timeless recordings made a profound impact on bluegrass, Southern gospel and folk music. Their cultural impact on the world of popular and sacred music is, quite simply, inestimable, and this will be the Southern premiere of a film that has won awards at tons of film fests around the world.
Learn more about the film and watch the trailer here: http://thewindingstream.com/
Savannah is getting a chance to see the film one critic called "quite simply, the greatest documentary about musicians I have ever seen" before Atlanta, Charleston, Jacksonville or even Nashville.
It will screen only twice at 5PM and then again at 8PM, and seating at both shows is limited.
IN THE UPPER LEFT HAND CORNER OF THIS PAGE YOU'LL FIND A DROP-DOWN MENU THAT ALLOWS YOU TO SELECT WHICH OF THE TWO SHOWS YOU'D LIKE TO PURCHASE TICKETS TO.
