Roedde House Jazz Concert Series Presents: James Danderfer
Composer/performer James Danderfer has been nominated "best jazz clarinetist" two times in the National Jazz Awards and has performed and recorded with some of the finest jazz musicians in Canada. With educational credits including Western Michigan University (B.Mus.) and McGill University (M.Mus, Jazz Composition), his three most recent recordings on his own record label (Reigning Parade) are a testament to his eclectic interests in jazz. From the sultry 1930s-style trio album Swingin' at the Patricia (featuring James' Jelly Roll Suite commissioned by CBC Radio) and the powerful, 11-piece New Orleans brass band-inspired outing The Hummingbird Brigade to his forthcoming electroacoustic album City of Angles, James' original music is as exciting and varied as it is heartfelt.
