Event
Speaking from the Sole
Bringing tap and flamenco together for a one night only performance featuring musicians, singers and dancers- and of course Nino de los Reyes, of flamenco fame, and Sean Fielder.
Both Sean and Nino are known for their spectacular technique and performance skills within their respective art forms: Nino, a descendant of flamenco royalty and Sean, the embodiment of rhythm through tap. Both are exquisite musicians- but also both possess a bravura in the way they think about dance.
Growing from a casual friendship, respecting each other's work from afar, the two dancer/choreographers know what it is to be both so much themselves as artists- but also open to the information, the essence, of the other's art forms and styles. This is not about blending to create one thing; this is about a dimensional approach to creating more through the crafting of an evening of dance, song and music.
Speaking from the Sole will bring to the dance floor both artists in solo turns, and in partnership with live percussionist, flamenco singers, additional tap and flamenco dancers, a Soul singer and in partnership with each other.
Also featured in the program are Nadia Washington on vocals, Layth Sidiq on violin, and Ahmed A. ElHaggar on vocals and oud.
Speaking from the Sole is presented within the Fall into Winter Performance and Event Series at The Dance Complex.
**Online ticket sales are available until 24 hours before the event. Additional tickets will be available at the door.
