First Parish Music Presents: The Creation
Hadyn's Creation
The Creation, composed in the late 1790s, is often cited as the composer's finest oratorio. This masterpiece follows the story of the creation of the world as told in the book of Genesis, the Psalms and the epic poem, Paradise Lost. It is written in three parts. Part one explores the creation of heaven and earth. Part two revels in the creation of animals and man. Part three is a glimpse into the Garden of Eden and the first experiences of Adam and Eve.
