Attorneys: How To Be An Effective Nonprofit Board Member
Attorneys will learn about the legal roles and responsibilities of nonprofit board members and how you can be most effective as you wear both your board member hat and your attorney hat. Nonprofits are always looking for lawyers to be on their boards and you have much to offer boards. But what is your role as an attorney-board member? What do you need to know ensure the nonprofit you are helping to direct meets all of its legal requirements to stay healthy and effective? The speakers will address these questions and more. Legal and ethical considerations of being an attorney on a board of directors will be explored. Attorneys will earn 3.5 CLE Credits, including 1 ethics CLE credit. In addition, one of the speakers is a nonprofit consultant and will be sharing her perspective on being an effective board member.

The reception for WAACO will be hosted by Stoel Rives. WAACO will introduce some of their nonprofit clients and other nonprofit organizations. Attorney participants will have an opportunity to meet and talk to invited nonprofit leaders about the nonprofit organizations and what it is like to be on their boards. Refreshments will be served at the reception.
