They will have exactly one hour to design their three course menu and present to our esteemed judges panel. All three courses must include the secret ingredient, which will be revealed right before the competition. Chef Tim McDonald of Food Service of America, who served on the judge's panel of Iron Chef last year has been tasked with procuring the secret ingredient. Over the years, such ingredients have included, shellfish, Oregon cheeses, wild mushrooms and last year's secret ingredient was carrots. Joining Chef Tim McDonald this year as co-emcee is Chef Christopher Holen of Astoria's Baked Alaska and the Culinary Instructor at Seaside High School. Both Tim and Chris have a wealth of experience and will make a great team bringing event goers play by play as the battle ensues. Joining our judge's panel again this year is Chef Vitaly Paley, who knows firsthand what it takes to be an Iron Chef as he won Iron Chef America in 2011, he was awarded the James Beard "Best Chef pacific Northwest" in 2005 and his Portland Restaurant Paley's Place is consistently recognized as one of America's Top Restaurants by Zagat. We are truly honored to have him join us in Seaside for this this event. We will be auctioning off a judges seat the night of the event, so one lucky winner will have a chance to sit side by side and taste the passion coming out of our kitchen stadium.
