JAZZ IT UP @ SORRENTO with LAUREN SHUB & The ILYA MASLOV TRIO
The popular monthly jazz event invites you celebrate life with a wonderful evening at the Jazz It Up! @ Sorrento music and dinner experience at Sorrento Restaurant, located at 631 Central Avenue in Westfield, NJ. Talented jazz artists bring to you a listening experience that promises to captivate the audience on the last Wednesday of each month at this intimate venue. The experience includes a choice of Music Menu entree, dessert and a beverage. BYOB is welcome. The event continues on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 7pm with a special concert with the extraordinary talents of vocalist Lauren Shub and the Ilya Maslov Trio.
Lauren Shub is a professional actor and singer, having graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. She has appeared on Broadway and in regional theater, including the McCarter Theater in Princeton.
Lauren has been concentrating on singing recently in New York City and New Jersey. She frequently performs with jazz guitarist Hal Hirsh, and pianist Ilya Maslov and their respective ensembles, as well as with guitarist Joseph Frame and the Framework Acoustic Jazz Quartet. Among Lauren's local appearances have been performances at the Watchung Arts Center, Crossroads, Verve, Perkins Arts Center, Van Gogh's Ear, Spanish Tavern, The Hunt Club at the Grand Summit Hotel, North Maple Inn, Giamano's and numerous performances in Westfield's annual "Sweet Sounds Downtown", and Jersey City's annual Hamilton Park BBQ Festival.
Pianist Ilya Maslov and his Trio joins Lauren at this Jazz It Up performance for a special evening of jazz and American Song Book selections.
IIlya was born in Riga, Latvia. His parents recognized his musical abilities at a very early age, so at the age of six ha was accepted into the prestigious music school under the auspices of the Latvian State Conservatory. Later, he moved to Moscow where he graduated from the Moscow College of Music with a degree in music education.
After emigrating to the United States in the late 70's he performed with various bands, wrote music for television and accompanied many artists, including Lenny Walsh, Gloria Gaynor and others. Jazz It Up! concert tickets are priced at $29.95 per person. Showtime is from 7pm to 9pm. Seating and dinner service for the concert experience starts at 6pm and continues during the program.The staff at Sorrento Restaurant, a long established Westfield, NJ eatery and home of the original tomato pie since 1870, welcomes you to this special monthly music concert event where you and your entire family can enjoy entrees from a pizza pie to a full course Italian meal. The venue offers the perfect ambience for a relaxing monthly evening of good food and drink, good friends and listening pleasure. Conveniently located 1 mile off of GSP Parkway Exit # 135.
