BEETS and BBQ
300 + Chicago youth are trained and employed each year on Growing Power's six west and southside farms. From growing food to running neighborhood markets, youth are transforming Chicago's food system. Come and celebrate the bounty of this season.
We'll have delicious BBQ and veggies from the farm prepared by our good friends at Dream Cafe and Grille, as well as delicious local beer to quench your thirst.
Join members of the Growing Food and Justice for All Initiative who are spending the weekend coming together to continue their work as leaders on a wide array of issues that have manifested as a result of injustice, and to find a common bond and fellowship which specifically uses the framework of dismantling racism in our food system as a tool for healing communities, environments and ourselves.
The Growing Food and Justice for All (GFJI) is a comprehensive network that views dismantling racism as a core principle which brings together social change agents from diverse sectors who are working to bring about new, healthy, and empowered communities throughout the world.
We'll have tours of the farm at 6:30 pm and 7 pm. Come see what's growing, taste honey from our bee hives, pet our adorable goats, checkout our family activity table and see the Fresh Moves Bus.
Admission price: $30.00 in advance and $40.00 at the door.
