Big Easy Short Docs
presented by DCTV + NOVAC
10 years after one of our country's most devastating natural disasters, we honor the resiliency of New Orleans and celebrate the magic that was never lost. Before Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans was a city that kept its secrets and was frequently only seen through the lens of outsiders, but a recovery-connected 'brain gain' in the Crescent City has resulted in the growth of a local community of filmmakers telling the city's stories from the perspective of its residents, in new and more engaging ways. Big Easy Short Docs invites you to see brand new short documentaries about New Orleans from New Orleans filmmakers through the eyes of Mardi Gras street sweepers, costume designers, second line dancers, and more.
DCTV is proud to present Big Easy Short Docs with New Orleans Video Access Center. Like DCTV, NOVAC was founded in 1972, and remains an institution for New Orleans filmmakers. Darcy McKinnon, NOVAC's Executive Director, and filmmakers will join us for a post-screening Q&A.
