In 80 minutes, James Keller guides the audience through the seven volumes of Marcel Proust's great 20th century novel, IN SEARCH OF LOST TIME, about the importance of memory and forgetting, using 180 slides and music as part of the narrative in a virtuoso performance which John Lahr (senior drama critic of The New Yorker magazine) called, "A tour de force" and also, has said that "James Keller is the most well-read person I know."
James Keller has had a long career writing plays and poetry and teaching the classics: Greek drama; Homer and Dante; Shakespeare; Joyce; Chinese Ch'an, Japanese Zen and modern poetry; and cinema courses. He received two writing awards from the British Arts Council, and his plays have been performed in London, New York, and throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
James is also the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Poorplayers.org
and has been called "a stealth SF Bay Area Theatre Treasure and Master."
After each performance, there will be a Q and A with James and the audience.
This lively production will leave audiences impressed and enlightened - both by Proust's grasp of the humor, sexuality and foibles in human consciousness and memory, as well as by James Keller's prodigious talents and knowledge.
