My Sister Eileen
The award-winning St. Mary's High School Theatre Department is kicking off its 2015-2016 season with the classic American comedy My Sister Eileen. Set in the 1940's, the play tells the story of two sisters from Ohio who are out to stake claims to their careers from their dingy basement apartment in the Greenwich Village section of New York City. Older, sensible Ruth aspires to be a writer, while the younger Eileen dreams of success on the stage as an actress. Through the streetlevel grating of their basement window- and sometimes through the door- comes a variety of oddball characters, including drunks, hucksters, hustlers, Portuguese Navy men and occasionally cops! Hilarity abounds as the sisters try to decide whether to stick it out or go back to Ohio! Rated PG. All performances are at Stockton Civic Theatre, located at 2312 Rosemarie Lane in Stockton: Saturday, October 3 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday October 4 at 2:00 p.m.; Friday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, October 10 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, October 11 at 2:00 p.m. Patrons are advised to purchase tickets ahead of time.General admission prices are $15.00 for adults, $12.50 for seniors, and $10.00 for students and children.
