New Amsterdam Records founders, label mates, and special guests from the MN Orchestra will perform new work by Judd Greenstein, Nico Muhly, William Brittelle, Ryan Brown and more on Thursday, March 29. Violist extraordinaire Nadia Sirota and pianist Michael Mizrahi will be joined by composer William Brittelle (piano, electronics) and a string quartet consisting of MN Orch musicians Peter McGuire and Kenneth Freed (violins), Sam Bergman (viola) and Eugena Chang (cello).
"We're very excited to be in town supporting Judd's tremendous premiere," said Brittelle referring to Greenstein's Minnesota Orchestra commission (link below) "and look forward to the opportunity to share other sides of the New Amsterdam world with the audience. We're especially excited to be partnering with Kate Nordstrum Projects, an organization that shares our mission for presenting visceral, compelling, and accessible art music."
Selected by the Minnesota Orchestra to participate in the Orchestra's first-ever Musical MicroCommission http://insidetheclassics.myminnesotaorchestra.org/microcommission/, composer Judd Greenstein will premiere Acadia for full orchestra March 30 & 31 at Orchestra Hall. Hundreds of "micro" donations commissioned the new composition by Greenstein, whose premiere will be the culminating event of the Minnesota Orchestra's 2011-12 Inside the Classics season.Thursday's concert at Bryant Lake Bowl, presented by Kate Nordstrum Projects, will showcase another side of Greenstein's repertoire, along with a set of Minnesota premieres, and the world premiere of Brittelle's Television Landscape.
