Dames Who Read: The Billionaire's Vinegar
In one of our earliest books for Dames Who Read, we learned about Thomas Jefferson's extended visits to Paris, where he picked up a love of fine food and wine and brought many of those things home with him. This book follows up on that one through the story of the discovery and subsequent auction of what would become the world's most expensive bottle of wine -- was it in fact connected to Jefferson? Was it from one of Thomas Jefferson's orders to winemakers in France? Was it authentic? Was it drinkable?
The intrigue and machinations behind the scenes in the wine auction business will lend our gathering more than a little conversation, as well as some interesting wine tasting and intrigue of our own.
While we cannot promise answers to all of the mysteries, we can promise plenty of wine tasting, light bar food and camaraderie.
