Tchaikovsky Trio with Rachel Lee and Ben Capps, intermission to follow up with the Pianists' double take on Preludes, with pianist David Aladashvili
In recent years, pianist Vassily Primakov has been hailed as a pianist of world class importance. Gramophone wrote that "Primakov's empathy with Chopin's spirit could hardly be more complete," and the American Record Guide stated: "Since Gilels, how many pianists have the right touch? In Chopin, no one currently playing sounds as good as this! This is a great Chopin pianist." . This could still go on previous page with pictures? Ben Capps, cello: Exciting young American cellist Ben Capps enjoys a versatile performing career as a soloist and chamber musician. His artistry has been praised as "most appealing" by the New York Times, "virtuosic and impassioned" by the Barre Montpelier Times, the Holland Times hailed Capps as a "young cello phenomenon from New York" with "dazzling technique and a fearsomely meaty tone.", and the Epoch Times proclaimed that "Capps has it all . . . cello playing of the very highest standard."
Violinist Rachel Lee Priday acclaimed for her beauty of tone, riveting stage presence, and "irresistible panache" (Chicago Tribune), has appeared as soloist with major international orchestras, including the Chicago, St. Louis, Houston, and Seattle Symphony Orchestras, the Boston Pops, and the Berlin Staatskapelle. Critics have praised her "dazzling, forceful technique," "rich, mellifluous sound" and "silvery fluidity." Combining a fierce intelligence with an imaginative curiosity, her wide-ranging repertoire and eclectic programming reflect a deep fascination with literary and cultural narratives, as an artist who seeks contemporary resonances with the masterworks of the past.
In September 2013, David Aladashvili's debut album Opus 13, released on the LP Classics label, garnered listeners' and critics' attention and respect alike. The album features works by Scriabin and Schumann, as well as thirteen new compositions written especially for David Aladashvili by thirteen promising young composers. As stated on Opus 13 by David: " I have always had a fascination with the number 13 while most associate it with being unlucky, I feel quite the opposite." As founder of Young for Young, the recent graduate of Juilliard's master program under Jerome Lowenthal and Matti Raecallio, puts his many inspirations to good use by organizing charitable concerts with young performers for young people in need, in his native Georgia and the United States.
