For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf
"For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf", or "For Colored Girls" (as it is typically referred) took Broadway by storm in the 1976 season. Ntozake Shange, the poet and playwright, explores the lives of seven women through an innovative combination of poetry, drama, music, and dance. This choreopoem, as the style is called, weaves together stories of love, empowerment, struggle, and loss into an honest and complex representation of sisterhood.
This powerful piece of theatre is the inaugural show for The Space at 2106 W. Main St. in Tampa, FL. We are excited to tell these engaging stories in a very immersive style where theatre becomes not just the watching of a story, but the experience of it.
