Audio Production Basics

This class will teach the basic production techniques for location Sound, as commonly used on Scary Cow shoots. This is a two hour class with an additional hour-long workshop in one evening session, specifically designed for film collective members. Capacity is very limited. Only 8 tickets available, so snatch them up!

The class will cover basic audio concepts and terminology, common audio equipment setup, and techniques for using this gear to capture good audio. Each participant gets a chance to be HANDS ON with all the equipment. In addition to the formal class, at the end of the evening we'll be joined by some Scary Cow audio experts, and there will be an hour long workshop where we'll try our hands at dressing and recording with lavaliere microphones (the little body mounted mics), a particularly difficult production skill. At the conclusion of the evening, participants will be familiar with the standard filmmaking audio tools and protocols commonly used on Scary Cow productions, and will be ready to work on set.

Instructor Bios:
Michael Schrecker has been doing location and post-production sound for ultra-low budget films for more then ten years. An early Scary Cow member, you may remember him from such films as "The Time Addict" and "Ricky Gets Rejected".

Stan Ng has been focusing on sound, both location and post-production, on many recent Scary Cow films. Prior to switching to sound, Stan gaffed dozens of other Scary Cow films.
