(Christopher Kirkley, Portland, OR, 75 min) Seattle Premiere!
The first fiction film ever shot completely in the Tuareg language, Akounak Tedalat Taha Tazoughai (Rain the Color of Blue with a Little Red in it) is the Purple Rain-infused story of Mdou Moctar, a young guitarist striving to make a name for himself. Akounak Tedalat Taha Tazoughai was shot entirely in Agadez, Niger, and incorporates techniques from Western music films and Italian neo-realism in order to create a rousing story of the underdog, accompanied by the moving sounds of Tuareg guitar.
