Ballet Tucson Opening Night Gala 2015
Ballet Tucson, Tucson's professional ballet company, kicks off its 30th Pearl Anniversary Season with a steampunk-themed Opening Night Gala celebration, followed by a triple bill of unique ballets.
Taking its cue from the world-premiere, steampunk rendition of Jekyll and Hyde, the Opening Night Gala will include:
Pre-performance wine and a buffet reception
A silent auction to benefit Ballet Tucson, with unique items and experiences themed around steampunk, time travel, objets d'art, vintage, his and hers, theater and restaurants, the unusual, and more!
Live musical entertainment by Hot Club of Tucson
Special Guests from the Tucson Steampunk Society
A post-performance champagne and dessert reception, with a chance to mingle with company artists
The Fall 2015 program includes:
Jekyll and Hyde (world premiere) Choreography by Cheiko Imada and Mary Beth Cabana A fresh and fanciful steampunk version of the classic Robert Louis Stevenson novel.
Masquerade Choreography by Cheiko Imada and Mary Beth Cabana Colorful and upbeat episodes at a lively masquerade ball slowly revealing the true personalities underneath.
Carmina Burana (world premiere) Choreography by Daniel Precup A thrilling and dynamic interpretation of Carl Orff's scenic cantada.
Each season, the company entertains the Tucson community with historic classics as well as innovative contemporary works, offering something for everyone's taste.
