Join the Everett Philharmonic on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 7 PM for the exciting conclusion to our Sixth concert season! Listening to our listeners' requests, we are delighted to present a program specially selected by our audience.

Alive with variety and talent this is indeed a Triple Treat Program!

The Everett Phil Cello Section will open the concert and share the stage with the fabulous Ellaina Lewis, soprano in the performance of the enchanting Bachianas Brasileiras #5 composed by Heitor Villa-Lobos.  The sound of eight violoncellos and a gorgeous soprano voice is unbelievable. Ken Freed (Mankato Symphony) suggests this music represents "the lush, fantastical, sensual, heartbreaking use of classical traditions to transport us to Brazil and universal truths of love, loss, and beauty."

Next up is the internationally well known and respected Alexander Ardakov in the performance of the beautiful Grieg Piano Concerto in A minor.
We are delighted to return this fine artist to our stage, and the well known Grieg Piano Concerto will rivet your attention in the first opening bars, and won't let you go until the very end!

The second half of the concert will begin with Sousa's rousing Stars & Stripes Forever conducted by Barbara Oakley, winner of the 2016 Gala Auction item which is a very popular experience.

But wait, there's more!  The richly gorgeous Symphony No. 8 of Antonin Dvorak...often referred to as the "Cello Symphony" will capture all the rest of your emotions, and then you will have to decide which of the glorious melodies you will hum on the way home.  The Guardian describes this symphony as  "... 35 minutes (or so) of life-enhancing joy".

Dr. Paul-Elliott Cobbs will share his insights and historical details at the pre-concert stage side chat at 6:00 pm. Our wonderful soloists will likely join our Maestro for some of their own comments.
(You will also be able to get your first choice of seating for the concert!)

This is a unique opportunity that you won't want to miss!
