About The Food Project:
The Food Project, founded in 1991, has been a leader in employing sustainable agriculture as a platform to create social change. Every summer, the organization employs over 100 youth from Greater Boston and the North Shore of eastern Massachusetts to farm over 40 acres in urban and rural areas. They plant, harvest, and sell the produce, while also gaining valuable skills in leadership, communications, and diversity awareness. The Food Project also oversees farmers' markets, provides community education workshops, offers farm shares, contributes to hunger relief work, and manages a national campaign on college campuses to increase universities' purchases of fresh, local food. The Food Project maintains operations in Boston, Lincoln, Lynn, and Beverly, Mass.
