Cascadia Convergence 2007 - (SEATTLE CTR)
Concerned citizens, businesses, nonprofits, and government organizations across the Pacific Northwest will gather on October 26-27 at the first annual Cascadia Convergence to collectively address this years theme of Climate Action and Citizen Engagement. The event begins a five-year process of convening community discussions to take stock of diverse sustainability efforts and to make plans to accelerate progress toward common goals. The event is supported by a growing list of over 35 participating organizations, including the Seattle Center, and has been endorsed by Seattle City Council, and City of Seattle Office of Environment and Sustainability. It begins October 26 at Town Hall with a keynote by Dr. David Suzuki, well-known scientist and environmental activist who will address Sustainability within a Generation and the urgent need for climate action. The evening includes a panel discussion of local voices on how to accelerate a path forward. Saturday, October 27 offers a day-long program at the Seattle Center, beginning with a forum on The State of Sustainability. The program includes a variety of break-out sessions for participants to deliberate on specific issues. The day concludes with a harvest of what was learned with particular regard to critical and immediate next steps toward sustainability in one generation.
