WHO: Leaders in the San Diego region working for social justice - whether you are employed by a nonprofit, do grassroots volunteering, are a community organizer, or otherwise identify yourself as a leader involved in building a more socially just, sustainable, peaceful world.
Registration is limited in consideration of capacity, table layout, and ability for both quality participation and interaction. PLEASE consider having only one or two people from your organization attend, unless someone has other "hats" (organization, experience, etc) that would otherwise not be at the table.
FORMAT: We are guided by the "world cafe" style (more info below*). This is not revolutionary, though it is not typical either. This roundtable is a peer-learning opportunity, where participants come together as teachers and learners. While the agenda will be based in PRISMS -- which stands for Poverty, Race, Immigration, Spirituality, Militarism, and Sustainability -- the topics are meant as catalysts. "We" are the true agenda and program, all of us together.
This is a different format. This is YOUR time. This is OUR time. We are coming together to dialogue. There are not presenters. There is not one answer. We are all doing excellent work. Take this unique time to spend sharing ideas with peers, seeking greater understanding and action. The agenda can change as needed. Openness is the key word. Experiment. Improvise. Reach out and make an effort to connect. There may be some discomfort. Remember intention - we are here to participate together to build greater social justice.
* http://www.theworldcafe.com/ "The World Café is built on the assumption that ... People already have within them the wisdom and creativity to confront even the most difficult challenges; that the answers we need are available to us; and that we are Wiser Together than we are alone."
