Annie Sellick with Michael Zisman and the Americano Social Club
Nashville vocalist Annie Sellick appeared at the Sound Room in May w. Akira Tana and the Secret Agent Band singing the songs from the films of James Bond. She returns this time around bringing her swinging "Hot Club of Nashville" sound paired with mandolinist Michael Zisman's Americano Social Club band.
As they say,"the joint will be jumping!"
Annie Sellick may be compared to the greats - "Ella's playfulness, Carmen's attitude, Betty's instincts and Anita's flair" (Greg Lee, WMOT jazz radio). But, she is unequivocally and undeniably an original. Don't let her southern drawl, as sweet as biscuits n' honey, cause you to make assumptions, because there is nothing shy or demure about Ms. Sellick's control - of the stage, the music, her sound, and her audience.
Perky vocalist Annie Sellick, an original with her own way of phrasing that allows her tongue-in-cheek personality to emerge...she toys with time and takes risks playing catch-up, but never sacrifices enunciation, breaks up vowels a la Anita O'Day and boasts a remarkable range...keep your ears on Annie." Harvey Siders, Jazz Times
"The Americano Social Club is led by Michael Zisman on mandolin and features guitarist Jason Vanderford and bassist Joe Kyle Jr. We play music for "la dolce vita": a mix of romantic and eclectic melodies from all over the world.
