Written & directed by Joe Albert Lima

Starring: Stephen Allen, Keith Bulluck, Maiysha Jones and Tracey McAllister

November 6 - 28th

For four consecutive weekends beginning Friday, November 6th, and running through Saturday, November 28th, Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) presents its fall mainstage production, the world premiere of A Short Walk Into Sunshine, a stirring and provocative full-length play written and directed by Joe Albert Lima that tackles themes of destiny, chance, race relations and long-seated sibling rivalries having paradoxical power to both destroy and heal.

Says Lima, "This is a play about last chances  it tells the story of KC, a man who's been battling mental illness in and out of institutions for most of his 39-years; his tense relationship with his sister, Sarah and her ex- husband, Max, himself frustrated by a string of failures and Peaches, a newfound love KC discovers while in a psychiatric hospital. Peaches is a young woman struggling to find a way to survive society's stigma and her own inner demons. All four try, sometimes in vain, sometimes with success, to make the short walk into sunshine hidden behind the clouds."

Alan Lutwin, executive director of WCT says, "We chose this play among numerous submissions because of its unique ability to captivate through a mix pathos and generous doses of humor while expressing itself through a lyrical use of language. While the context is specific, the message is universal. We know that it will resonate strongly with our audiences  they'll be talking about it long after the curtain falls. We are proud to have A Short Walk Into Sunshine make its debut with WCT."

A Short Walk Into Sunshine will be performed at the Steamer Co. Firehouse Theater, 117 Main St., 2nd Floor in Ossining, NY on Fridays November 6, 13, 20 and 27  and Saturdays, November 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 8pm; matinees will run Sundays, November 8, 15 and 22 at 3pm. Sunday matinees will be followed by a talkback session with the playwright/director and cast. There is a special performance on Thursday, November 19 at 8 pm. Advance purchase tickets are $20 through Brown Paper Tickets; all tickets are general admission. All tickets for November 6 opening night which includes an after party, are $35.
