2015 Internet Cat Video Festival
Emerging from the Walker Art Center's Community Programs and Education Department, and Open Field, a platform of crowdsourced content in the spirit of collaboration and community building, the Internet Cat Video Festival became a runaway smash success, with thousands of audience members in its native Minneapolis, as well as from around the globe.
In its first three years, the festival has already played in over 80 venues, and counting. In museums, theaters, community centers, and film festivals, the sites present a rotating line up of videos that are doing all of the things compelling art should: raising questions, challenging assumptions, angering people, andin the case of this festivalcreating a real experience.
Join MAD for a free screening of the 2015 Internet Cat Video Festival. Gathering the best cat videos the internet has to offer, this festival reveals not only the new forms of festivals and projects to come out of museums, but also reveals something even more striking and provocative: that the most influential genre of cinema born in this young millennium may very well be the cat video.
