Urban Menagerie
Saturday, May 12, 11AM-2PM Co-presented by 18 Reasons, Kitchen Table Talks and SPUR Urban Menagerie: How to Raise Food Animals in the City $25 for 18 Reasons and SPUR members; $35 for the general public.
Have you ever wondered about the "backyard barnyards" popping up here and there or had the urge to raise your own meat? Join SPUR, Kitchen Table Talks, and 18 Reasons to learn more on a bicycle tour of furry and feathery backyards in Oakland. Led by Esperanza Pallana of Pluck and Feather and Kitty Sharkey of Havenscourt Homestead, you will visit two homes to see how everyday people raise goats, rabbits, chickens, and more in their own backyards. You will learn about the practicality and legality of raising animals in cities, as well as get tips on feed, shelter, and slaughter. Light snacks provided, and please bring your own lunch and water. More details coming. Tour limited to 20.
We will send out details regarding directions, food, and bicycle routes closer to the event date.
