Kate Davis Mathews, Mezzo-Soprano
San Francisco Bay Area Mezzo soprano Kate Davis Mathews performs a hometown Colorado concert for family and friends. Kate and pianist Karen Stoody will present an eclectic recital program including works by Mozart, Irving Berlin, Schubert, Copland, and Handel. This is an intimate "house concert" venue with *seating limited to 50* . Advance (free) tickets strongly recommended. Donations accepted at the concert.

www.KateMathews.com Mezzo-Soprano Kate Mathews is a varied and active performer, at home with opera, concert, jazz, Broadway, and ensemble singing. Miss Mathews' operatic credits include Cornelia in Handel's Giulio Cesare, Baba in The Medium, Mother Jeanne in Dialogues of the Carmelites, and Amahl in Amahl and the Night Visitors. She has also participated in many scenes from operas including Carmen, L'italiana in Algeri, Così fan tutte, and Der Rosenkavalier. Her musical theatre credits include Philia in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun and Aunt March in Little Women. Miss Mathews is also a frequent performer on the concert stage. In collaboration with the chamber music department at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she recently performed Ned Rorem's Santa Fe Songs for low voice and piano quartet. Miss Mathews has also appeared as a soloist with the American Philharmonic-Sonoma County. In the summer of 2010, Miss Mathews attended the CoOPERAtive program at Westminster Choir College and the RESONANZ Albany Singer Intensive Festival in Albany, NY. In 2007, she spent a summer in England at the Abingdon Summer School for Solo Singers. Miss Mathews recently placed second in both the Art Song and Aria divisions at the Bay Area National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) annual competition. She has been awarded grants from the Anna Sosenko Assist Fund and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Professional Development Fund. Miss Mathews sang in the world premiere of The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere by Rene Clausen, a large work for chorus and wind symphony. She has sung several times with the Santa Fe Symphony and Chorus and participated in the 2007 International Choral Festival in Beijing, China. Along with her many choral engagements, Miss Mathews also created, managed, and sang in a female barbershop quartet called Resonate. While living in New Mexico, Miss Mathews was a frequent guest soloist for the Eastern New Mexico University annual Jazz Festival. She also sang numerous times at the annual Big Band Dance in Clovis, NM. Originally from Loveland, Colorado, Miss Mathews is holds a Master of Music Degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music Degree from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico.
