Remember The...(Alamo) / The Jenkins Farm Project
In these hour-long, non-traditional viewing experiences, audiences move through the installed performances like an art gallery - listening, watching and touching isolated moments from the past.
"Remember the...(Alamo" revisits the historic Battle of the Alamo in an evening length dance theater performance that juxtaposes the well-crafted vibrancy of popular music, movie, and serial t.v. renditions of the Alamo against the more fragmented real-world narratives of the event captured in personal letters, historic documents, and archival images.
On alternate evenings, "The Jenkins Farm Project" transforms the real stories of a North Carolina farming family into an interactive performance that questions the meaning of home, family, memory, and mental illness against the crumbling backdrop of a depression era homestead. A composite video component of home movies, interviews, and historical images serves as a background to the dynamic integration of dance and theater playing within, against, and around an original bluegrass-blues-hymn-folk score.
