Beyond the Myth Film Screening Hosted by FOR THE LOVE OF PITS.

For the Love of Pits is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit Cleveland-based organization run exclusively by volunteers and focuses rescue efforts on homeless pit bull type dogs located in Northeast Ohio.

Their mission is to restore, preserve and protect the prestigious legacy of the pit bull dog and to improve the environment in which pit bull dogs and their owners live with education, advocacy and by providing low cost training classes and other low cost services to owners of pit bull dogs who are otherwise unable to afford training or who merely want to educate themselves and train their dogs in a nonjudgmental, friendly and supportive environment.

Beyond the Myth is a film about dog breeds commonly referred to as"pit bulls" and those who love these breeds. Viewers are taken on a journey to four
U.S. cities where Breed Specific Legislation focusing on "pit bulls" has profoundly impacted people and animals: Denver, Miami, Cincinnati, and San Francisco.

The documentary intelligently explores the contributing factors behind the public's generalized fear of "pit bulls", and examines the conflict existing between advocates and opponents of breed discriminatory laws, commonly referred to as breed bans. It investigates the myths associated
with these breeds, challenges the idea that they are inherently vicious, presents eye-opening research regarding the media's role in influencing people's opinion on dog attacks.
