From the moment you enter the hall, you'll know you're in for something different. Sympho's REWIND is a continuous visual and sonic experience from beginning to end. It's a journey through time and through the mind. REWIND showcases violinist Anne Akiko Meyers, as well as the New Century Chamber Orchestra conducted by Sympho Artistic Director Paul Haas.
Stepping into the hall, you'll be enveloped by sculptural and ambient works of art and the electronic soundscapes of emerging digital sampling artists and composers. Once settled into your seat, you'll experience a program that spans five different centuries, from commissioned and spontaneously-created acoustic and electronic pieces to music by, among others, Judd Greenstein, Joshua Penman, Mason Bates, Schnittke, Schoenberg, Mozart and Purcell. Lighting and other visual elements will join forces with the music, creating a feast for the senses. And you'll be right in the middle of the action, surrounded by the performers and the performance.
REWIND will take place on Saturday, January 19 at 8pm at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in downtown San Francisco.
