Bill Amatneek: Acoustic Stories
Sebastopol-based musician Bill Amatneek has been playing expert string bass and banjo in acoustic music groups most of his life, sharing the stage or recording with David Grisman, Peter Rowan, Kate Wolf, Peter, Paul and Mary, Bill Monroe, Jerry Garcia and many other greats. He is also a gifted storyteller and wordsmith who has created funny, sweet, thoughtful, humble, generous stories that offer us a slice of the folk music life and it's rarefied culture. Bill will be telling some of his Acoustic Stories at OCA, as well as selling copies of his book of the same title. (VineyardsPress.com Book-of-the-Year). www.Amatneek.com
These are stories of discovery, laughter, adventure, and the thrill of playing and loving music. He'll also be telling of encounters with Lou Gottleib, Al Gore and Pete Seeger, pickin' bluegrass for George W., interviewing Aretha Franklin for Rolling Stone, and touring Paris with a string band. Bill accompanies his stories on 5-string banjo and acoustic bass; with audience sing-a-longs sprinkled throughout. Do not miss this wonderful evening of laughter, great stories, and fine music at OCA's acoustic sweet spot! Fine refreshments for sale; wine/beer included. Wheelchair accessible.
