Community MLK Event with author Tiyi Morris
The history of women as agents of change in the civil rights movement is often overlooked. Tiyi Morris, of the Department of African-American and African Studies at Ohio State University, provides the first comprehensive examination of the Mississippibased civil rights organization Womanpower Unlimited. Created to provide aid to unjustly arrested Freedom Riders, Womanpower Unlimited expanded its activism to include voter registration drives, and youth education and spearheaded revitalization of black women's social and political activism in the state. Takes Place in the PAC
In partnership with the Jewish Community Relations Council's Michael and Barbara Newmark Institute for Human Relations
