Event
de Porres Moonwater
Dear Friends,
We write to you with a bit of self promotion and an invitation to our next fĂȘte. To begin, Pablo and I have been chosen to be part of Wild Turkey Distillery's #nevertamed campaign. For us, this translates into an opportunity to share what we do with a larger audience and an excuse to drink more bourbon. Perhaps you saw the especially well-written profile(penned by our dear friend and frequent de Porres guest Bennett Madison) on Gawker.com? If not, please do have a peek at it.
Onto the invite: Sunday, September 27th, at 6:30PM we will be back at Moonwater Farm. The evening begins with pisco sours and a yet to be decided small bite. Mushroom ceviche with shiso, tamari, and toasted wakame follows. Up next is anticuchos, a popular street food of Afro-Peruvian origin. Superlatively "nose to tail," this dish consists of cow heart marinated in aji panca and other spices, grilled, and served on skewers. Ours will come with a salad of celery, cucumber, and sesame seeds. For our main we've chosen sudado de pescado. Pablo prepared this for me and a friend within two weeks of dating. Needless to say, I've been hooked ever since. For it, we will turn to Wild Local Seafood Co., purveyors of the freshest Santa Barbara black cod. The fish will be steamed with mussels, tomato, aji amarillo, white wine, onion and other aromatics, and served with yucca. And for dessert: the Southern classic, pineapple upside-down cake topped with (the not so Southern) whipped mascarpone.
The suggested donation for this gathering is $110 with wine pairings or $95 BYOB. We ask that you come with an open mind, empty stomach, and understanding that no substitutions will be made to our menu. Space is limited. RSVP to info@de-porres.com.
Nos vemos. Danielle and Pablo
