Making Scents: Soap and Candle Making
Soap Making
During this session (9am 12:30pm), participants will learn about the science behind saponification (making soap from oils and lye), the traits various oils impart to soap, how to compare the pros and cons of hot- versus cold-process soap making, and safe practices.
Candle Making
During the second session (1:30 5pm), participants will
learn about crafting candles from various waxes, including what various waxes, wicks, and additives affect a candle's performance; and how to add colorants, scents, and additives for visual effect.
