This workshop is inspired by the life and times of Marie Antoinette at the height of her reign! Participants will learn basic steps of the Minuet, which was in an exciting phase of it's evolution in the latter part of the 1700s due to the work of Mozart, who incidentally, LOVED to dance as well!
We will spend five weeks learning basic movements, which are evocative of ballet and rituals of France's royal court, ultimately combining them into a classic piece and performance. Participating dancers will have the opportunity to join The TropiGals for an opening performance at this year's Sojourner House Masquerade Ball on Friday, November 13th at the Biltmore Ballroom.
Costumes are not included, and will cost about $50. (It will also be ready in time for Halloween, should you wish to show it off!) We will spend one of the October workshop dates going overtime for costuming, fittings, and accessory crafting.
