SPEAKER:
Dr. Rakesh Bhargava
Mechanical Engineering Advisor, Topside-Tubular Bells Prospects Offshore Americas/West Africa Developments Hess Corporation
PRESENTATION OVERVIEW:
Combined Heat and Power (CHP), commonly termed as Cogeneration earlier in USA, is one of the leading methods for effective utilization of limited available energy resources to improve power plant efficiency and reduce emissions. This presentation will cover the following:
- Historical evolution of CHP technology - Energy supply sources and demand sectors - Energy consumption & electric power generation trends (Global and USA) - CHP basics - Various available CHP technologies - Advantages and limitations of available technologies - Applicable regulations and environmental issues - CHP market trends (Global and USA) SPEAKER'S BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Rakesh Bhargava has been involved for over three decades in the design, research, development, and applications of gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, and other rotating and reciprocating machines used in the off-shore, refinery, power generation, chemical, and pipeline industries. His areas of interests include gas turbine performance enhancement technologies, gas turbine field problems resolution, on-site equipment performance testing, and the global energy market. He is a Fellow and Associate Fellow of ASME and AIAA, respectively and currently is a Chair of the ASME/IGTI Industrial & Cogeneration Committee. He is employed with Hess Corporation in Houston as a Mechanical Engineering Advisor-Topside.
