Stagebenders Valentine Show with Scott Hansen
600 pounds of Las Vegas showgirl wrapped into two chubby, bald guys!" Las Vegas Magazine
Gust Alexander and Kim Thomassen bill themselves with the playful moniker "The Stagebenders." They are two junior high school buddies from Minneapolis that cracked up all of their friends. They are now America's funniest comedy duo and play to sellout audiences at concerts, comedy clubs and colleges from coast to coast. They are the only national performers to ever win the "MTV Comedy Challenge" twice in a row!
Kim Thomassen and Gust Alexander love to make people laugh. The St. Paul Pioneer Press has called them, "The Abbot and Costello for the new millennium!" The Stagebenders' act is a nonstop, fast-paced hurricane of interactive comedy that has to be experienced to be believed. The Minneapolis StarTribune has called them, "The Prince of Banter and the Prince of Glib."
After fifteen years, their act has been honed to perfection. Once they whip their audience into a comedy frenzy, no other comic dares perform after them. The Los Angeles Times has said this about the comedy twosome: "With a honed ability to play off of each other as well as the audience, the Stagebenders have mastered the art of improvisation!" Diehard fans include Geena Davis, The Kinks and the legendary Budd Friedman ( the Stagebenders headline regularly at "Improvs" all over the United States) who has been quoted as saying that, " The Stagebenders are my biggest find!"
This dynamic duo has television and film appearances that include The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, ABC's America's Funniest People, MTV's The Jenny McCarthy Show, the Paramount feature film TREKKIES 2, and the Coen Brothers' The Naked Man. They have been featured in national publications such as Esquire and - believe it or not - Mechanical Engineering.
Along with headlining at Harrah's Las Vegas every Thanksgiving and Christmas, the Stagebenders have performed countless shows for a variety of Fortune 500 companies, including AT&T, MCI, Honeywell and Frito Lay.
Their current project is a feature film which stars the duo called "The God Complex" and The Stagebenders TV Show, a scripted, half-hour sitcom. If the TV show leaves the audience anywhere near as frenzied as their stage show, even Abbott and Costello wouldn't want to follow them!
