THE GERMANS ARE COMING, THE GERMANS ARE COMING! Teutonic Tappers hit the boards at The Dance Hall with Tap, Tray and The Fool World Tour 2012
Kittery, ME- On Friday March 30, 2012 at 7:30 pm at The Dance Hall, Kittery tap dancers TAP & TRAY, Kurt Albert and Klaus Bleis, join Josh Hilberman for Tap, Tray, and the Fool World Tour 2012. Following up their recent dates in Nurnberg, Mannheim, and Berlin, Germany, their performance in Kittery will kick off their New England tour. Tap impresario Josh Hilberman, known to local audiences for his role as the "Jazz Nut" in Clara's Dream A Jazz Nutcracker, has been collaborating with international tap dance stars Kurt Albert and Klaus Bleis for nearly 20 years. Together as "Tap, Tray and the Fool", with the helpful hands of all-star pianist Paul Arslanian, these performers can't help themselves from creating a ruckus! Joining the ruckus at the Hall are special guests tap dancers Drika Overton and Gay Nardone, and bass player Nate Therrien.
International tap stars TAP & TRAY (Kurt Albert and Klaus Bleis) showcase a variety of styles, from ferociously fast Paddle-and-Roll rhythms to languid, elegant Soft Shoe to fiery a-cappella counterpoint. TAP & TRAY inherited their vaudevillian specialty dancing wildly while spinning large silver trays from their late mentor, the great Carnell Lyons from Kansas City, Missouri. Working together for over 20 years, Kurt Albert and Klaus Bleis have made TAP & TRAY one of the most successful European tap acts of all time. Based in Germany, the duo has performed throughout the US (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Hartford, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Kansas City), Europe, and Russia with virtually all of the finest tap dancers in the world.
Tap dancer Josh Hilberman has been collaborating with TAP & TRAY for nearly 20 years, sharing mentorship from tap pioneer Brenda Bufalino. Josh performs, choreographs, and teaches internationally. Groomed by vaudevillians and old-time entertainers, Josh has performed all over the US and Europe, and has been a featured faculty member at more than 75 tap dance festivals. Hilberman is recognized with a lifetime achievement award by the Barcelona Tap Association, a Dance USA/National Endowment for the Arts grant for choreography, and the 2009 Presidential Scholars Teachers Recognition award. Tickets are $18/advance $20/door adults $15/child-senior
