Slow Food Upstate presents Chocolate
The Maya believed that the kakaw(cacao) was discovered by the gods in a mountain given to humans by their god, the Plumed Serpent.

Menu exclusively prepared for Slow Food Upstate by Chef Nello Gioia of Ristorante Bergamo
Menu Appetizer:-grilled wild shrimp served with bitter red cocoa sauce.
First Course-Bitter chocolate agnolotti pasta, filled with sweet sausage, mozzarella, fresh herbs grown by Chef Nello, served with butter and sage over Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.
Second Course-roasted "all natural" leg of veal served over bleu potato puree' with bitter red cocoa and same fresh herbs grown by Chef Nello.
Dessert: -chestnut flour, black truffles from Umbria, Belgium chocolate cake topped with fresh berries served over creme anglaise.
Cost per person :$55.00 includes tax and service. A portion of the proceeds to this event, will go to support Slow Food Upstate grants that help improve or create local school and community gardens, support small food producers introduce bio-diverse products to the region, and help educational activities, programs and initiatives the help improve the food system in the region of the Upstate of SC.
