Maier Hall Concert Series: Tien Hsieh
A phenomenal solo pianist from China by way of the Bay Area, Tien Hsieh, will open the Maier Hall Concert season Saturday, October 24, 2015. Praise for her concerts and recordings has come from many quarters.
"Tien Hsieh delivered electrifying performances of music of monumentally heroic difficulty which were breathtaking in their technical quality and interpretive maturity," according to The Carmel Pine Cone.
Hsieh immigrated to the United States with her family when she was nine years old. Since then she has toured the west coast extensively and has given performances across the U.S. and Europe. These recitals have included Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall(NYC), The Liszt Museum (Budapest), Shanghai Conservatory (Shanghai) and Seattle's Town Hall. She has also been a soloist with the Spokane Symphony, the Redlands Symphony, and the Houston Civic Symphony and has several solo CD's out on the Titanic and MSR labels. Hsieh might be persuaded to program Beethoven's final piano sonata, Op. 111 in C minor, for which her past performances have received glowing reviews.
