Opera and Wine
Opera and Wine Saturday, Sept. 5, 12 and 19, 2015 6 - 8 p.m. Music on the Square, 21 N. Indiana St. In partnership with the Office of the Mayor and Almost Home, with assistance from America's Best Communities, DePauw University School of Music is thrilled to launch its first course for lifelong learners. "Opera and Wine" debuts our newly established Communiversity program. Communiversity [;n. Community+University = expanded universe]; courses invite adult-learners into conversation with music-makers, creators and innovators. Embrace the opportunity to learn more about the music you now or are about to love. Expand your universe. Over three class meetings, you will learn about grape varieties, wine styles, growing regions and how to purchase and store wine. You will also enjoy some of opera's greatest moments and learn why the art form has captivated audiences for centuries. Come join three dynamic professors and three knowledgeable wine experts for tastings, opera's greatest hits, and time with neighbors, friends and soon-to-be friends. Thanks to the assistance of America's Best Communities, our first Communiversity course is available simply by making a donation to the Community Music Program, which supports our local school-aged children in taking private music lesson at Music on the Square. There is limited space for these classes you may sign up to take one class or all three (a value of $150). Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
