Joey Pipia's Delusions of Grandeur (Port Townsend)
Eccentric Authentic Magician Performs to Benefit Eclectic Authentic Community Radio Two Weekends: Sat, Feb 25, Fri & Sat March 2 & 3 at 7 PM
"Joey Pipia is a pro," says Kevin Joyce, Director of Teatro ZinZanni, about the magician's performance on Joyce's TV show, Big Night Out. Pipia added an original twist to Houdini's classic needle swallowing effect; he used shards of broken glass taken from a bottle Joyce had just smashed.
"He created a huge sensation," adds Joyce.
You can enjoy the sensational, world-class stage magic of Joey Pipia featured in, Delusions of Grandeur, presented for three shows over two weekends; Saturday, Feb 25 and Friday March 2, and Saturday March 3. All shows are at 7 pm. These three shows are a benefit for KPTZ Radio.
Expect to be dazzled by this stage show crafted from years of unique experiences.
Pipia is a central performer, writer and producer of the legendary Stage Left Vaudeville Show at the Oregon Country Fair. His escape from a straightjacket while hanging 80 feet above Water Street in downtown Port Townsend was featured on Seattle NPR's KUOW Presents, he performs at the international Moisture Festival, and tours regularly with The New Old Time Chautauqua and The Flying Karamazov Brothers.
"See this show, live happily ever after," says Jake Seniuk, Director of The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, who brought in Pipia's original magic as the final event of the museum's series, The Art of Healing, adding, "he's an imp, a wizard with a sixth sense."
Delusions of Grandeur is a ninety-minute one-of-a-kind theatrical event where wonder and the absurd are presented as one; the audience leaves affirmed in the belief that life is profoundly marvelous. No fancy boxes, no smoke or mirrors. Instead, it's just the magic; straight up, fast paced, funny, and amazing.
Pipia's other show, The Magic Chamber: 30 seats, 60 minutes, one outrageous event, ran for over a year of sold out performances at The Chameleon Theater in Port Townsend before touring the Northwest last winter culminating in another sold out run at Seattle's Intiman Theater.
This is the first time his stage show, Delusions of Grandeur, has been presented in Port Townsend.
Pipia has appeared in film, on TV, and on stages across the country.
As for living happily ever after? "You'll just have to see the show," he says.
Tickets one price for all: $12, and may also be purchased at The Food Coop.
