the BUSINESS (UK), RAT CITY RIOT & the DOWNTOWN STRUTS
the BUSINESS (UK) the DOWNTOWN STRUTS RAT CITY RIOT $12 In Advance / $15 Day Of Show DOORS: 9 PM / SHOW: 10 PM Indisputably synonymous with anyone's recollection of the original surge of the British Oi! movement would have to be South London's working class skinhead heroes, THE BUSINESS. Shrouded in a mess of urban folklore, bombarded with tons of irrelevant controversy, and full of more perseverance than most new bands have in their little finger, THE BUSINESS are still here after 30 years. Having been instrumental in forming a musical aesthetic often referred to as 'pub rock', 'street rock', and 'punk n roll', THE BUSINESS are indelibly marked by tales of European football games, motorbike excursions, working class triumphs, bar room theatrics, factory life blues, and of course, the unavoidable anthems of the ever-scrutinized drinking and driving. Since forming in 1979, the band has releases more records than even some of the most long standing punk bands, toured all over the world, released records on labels such as EPITAPH, TAANG, BYO, TKO, CAPTAIN OI! and many more, as well as having Lars Frederickson (RANCID) produce one of their records and having shared a split release with DROPKICK MURPHYS. Although the lineup has changed over the years, the message and the sound has not. Micky Fitz and the boys are poised to keep soldiering forward and keep the spirit of the streets rollin on into the future. Now, joining forces with Sailor's Grave Records, expect the legacy to continue with strength in 2010 and beyond. The DOWNTOWN STRUTS were formed in 2008 in Chicago with two members hailing from Northern California and two from the Midwest. Setting out to create honest music stemming from punk and Americana influences, the songs are passionate and melodic at heart but delivered with drive and aggres-sion. Get them talking about influences, and theirs fit their style perfectly. With heroes like THE CLASH, RANCID, SOCIAL DISTORTION, TOM PETTY, and BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, it's no wonder they pull out these kind of performances and this level of solid songwriting. "The overall vibe is as if Ducky Boys or Reducers SF gave in to their pop element completely. Makes for a good, solid sound that I am usually a sucker for." - Razorcake "tinges of RANCID, SWINGIN' UTTERS, SMALLTOWN and even a little AGAINST ME. I even hear a little SOCIAL DISTORTION in the guitar playing. It's really well done for the style. The songwriting and lyrics are a step or two above average for the genre. I bet we'll be hearing more." - Maximum Rock'N'Roll RAT CITY RIOT will be smashing their way back onto the streets of Europe in February of 2011. These Street-Rock gladiators are battle tested and have the miles (or Kilometers) behind them to lay a proper foundation for an assault on the very core of what you know about this band, and what you've been told that Rock and Roll should be. Blasting out of the gate with songs like 'Save Your Soul' and 'Long Run', RAT CITY RIOT let everyone know exactly where they stand as a hard-working, touring machine that pulls no punches and has no qualms about telling it like it is. Featuring a Discography on such labels as Taang! Records, Street Anthem, and People Like You Records; RAT CITY RIOT find their new home now on IHP RECORDS and get back to basics, and back on the road ready for anything. New additions to the band include Kevin Grossman (ex Bonecrusher and Straight Faced) on lead guitar, and Kevin Abrams on bass guitar. Back for more, are seasoned touring veterans, Noah Bricker on vocals, Andy Mensing on guitar, and Gavin Glenn on drums. RAT CITY RIOT is back, stronger than ever, and will be tearing across the terrain, onto a stage near you with a vengeance. "Image is nothing. Live the life, not the lifestyle"
