Stories of God
STORIES OF GOD by Rainer Marie Rilke Adapted for the stage by Paul Sills February 16, 17 & 18, 7:30pm Seating is limited-Black Box presentation
These are stories of God for children written by Rainer Rilke and brought to the stage through the imaginative spirit of Paul Sills. Composed in 1899 when Rilke was only twenty-three, the interconnected tales of STORIES OF GOD were inspired by a trip to Europe the young poet had made the previous year. He heard stories about God that he wanted to tell children, but his own shyness and belief that he was too ugly for children to look at led him to write the stories for adults so that they may share them with their own children. STORIES OF GOD's charming,folktale-like qualities have made them among the most accessible of Rilke's works, beloved by all ages.
