To Lie in the Sky/ Choreography by Pat Catterson
To Lie in the Sky is Pat Catterson's 104th work and has been created with the generous support of a Fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. Like the May Swenson poem from which the title is taken, it is concerned with the relationship between body, self and place. A topic of long standing interest to philosophers, as well as neuroscientists and psychologists, it is for dancers, a daily investigation and preoccupation. This evening length work presents a collage of movement, sound, text, and visual elements, requiring the audience to multi task. They will enter an environment with video projections by Nadia Lesy, a décor of winter coats hanging above the space like a sky, and an original score by composer Quentin Chiappetta. The décor and lighting design is by Phillip W. Sandström, and costumes by Juanita Cardenas, The exceptional dancers are Alexandra Berger, Becky Chaleff, Jesse Dunham, Liesbeth Demaer Ingenito, Maia Ramnath, Samuel Swanton, Suzanne Thomas and Timothy Emmett Lee Ward.
