Back to Back Harry Partch Lecture and Instrument Making Workshop
Charles Corey, Ph.D., composer and director of the Harry Partch Instrumentarium at the University of Washington, presents a lecture surveying Partchs compositions, theories, and inventions, including an in-depth look at some of Partchs creative solutions to instrument design. The lecture will be followed by an instrument-making workshop in which participants will use basic hand tools, woods, and metals as they work with Corey and Nextfab staff to construct basic instrument prototypes and brainstorm ideas for their expansion.
