Civil Disobedience: The Musical
Following the publication and Off-Broadway run of its critically-acclaimed "Prop 8 Love Stories," Sonoma County's Walking Elephant Theatre Company returns with "Civil Disobedience: The Musical." Walking Elephant's troupe of journalist-actors, ranging from 8 to 18 years old, have spent the last several months interviewing brilliant, and charismatic figures who've participated in acts of civil disobedience. Now, the young actors will portray those individuals, word for word, live, on stage, along with original song and dance elements. People to be portrayed include Elbert "Big Man" Howard (a founding member of the Black Panther Party), Michael C. Ruppert (a white activist who marched with Martin Luther King in Selma, Alabama), 21-year-old Muslim anarchist Sabina Ahmed, members of Food Not Bombs, and more.
