If you live in Boston and you are over 21, come on out to see some live hip hop and reggae on Saturday January 7. the Dub Down is a musical collaboration and a social movement. The Scotch Bonnet band is comprised of Boston's most renowned musicians. Led by bassist Geoff Scott (Public House, Miracle Orchestra) and drummer Nathan Sabanayagam (Naya Records) the group is rounded out by guitarist Van Gordon Martin (Spritual Rez) and keyboadist Zack Brines (Pressure Cooker, Kings of Nuthin). Together and individually, Scotch Bonnet has backed and shared the stage with reggae legends including: Toots Hibbert, Third World, Burning Spear, Ken Boothe, Barrington Levy, Derrick Morgan, Kiddus I, Bob Andy, The Congos and the list goes on.
The Dub Down features vocalists also hailing from the Boston scene. Tonight the classic stylings of Skiffington Ruglass bring us back to Halfway Tree and downtown Kingston, Craig Akira Fujita (Joint Chiefs, Pressure Cooker), a Boston home grown front man, lends his signature chattin', and the mesmerizing vocal stylings of Tom O'Brien bless us with the live alivness!
