Broken Flowers - work in progress
Portland/Polish choreographer Agnieszka Laska is known from creating provocative works related to the most painful issues of our reality. Her multimedia productions "The Fall '01", "Lamentatio", "Homeland Insecurity" have taken us to 9/11's ground zero, Middle East battle fields, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, through airport body scans and into the very heart and soul of humanities suffering.
Her newest work, Broken Flowers, addresses a severe tragedy unfolding on a growing scale within our region: forced induction of young persons (some prepubescent) into bonded prostitution literally sex-trade slavery.
This work in progress version is showing (only one performance, limited seating) as a part of the 2012 "March Music Moderne" series. This performance will serve as a feedback opportunity from the audience and a fundraising preview toward the fully developed work, tentatively scheduled for premiere in the fall of 2012.
