Contemporary Works & Four Seasons of the Soul in Gunter, Texas

Ballet 5:8's first visit to Texas will be a dynamic experience in dance featuring three works, each with a distinctly different feel and character.
Preston Miller's And Mercy premiered at Ballet 5:8's The Beauty of Introspection in September. Miller, Ballet 5:8's first guest choreographer, created the work for Ballet 5:8 this summer. And Mercy explores concepts of judgment, grace and mercy in an athletic, contemporary style that engages the eye in continuous, connected movement emerging seamlessly from the music.
Whereas And Mercy is highly contemporary, Artistic Director Julianna Slager's Four Seasons of the Soul is highly balletic and neoclassical. Drawn from Slager's personal experiences and looking to those who have gone before, Four Seasons meditates on life from the perspective of the bigger picture with an electric combination of color, music, emotion and dance.
Finally, Slager's As We Pray will round out the program with a poignant reflection on prayer. Inspired by the familiar words of the Lord's prayer, As We Pray is a sweeping, moving, breathing exploration of the many different kinds of prayer.
